This book was structured in a way that made the topic very interesting - by each system in the human body, for example endocrine, bones, etc. It was really eye opening to see the foundation of how medicine was built not to solve woman’s health issues, but in essence to fit with the societal and economic norms of an age - aka to serve men. It was a bit depressing (and I audibly gasped in horror several times) seeing some of these stories happened as recently as 2023.

But I do think it pushed me to actually be more health conscious (don’t want to get osteoporosis) and really push to take doctors to take my concerns seriously. I’ve been in several offices before where they do write off symptoms due to anxiety (one example being that I had to see 5-6 doctors to final uncover my heart beats abnormally fast). 

I recommend as a read to really understand women’s health and also inform you how to talk to doctors and some of the biases in how they work.

i’m angry :) this made me very angry :) if you wanted to learn about how the medical system sucks and how the system will always be against women, read this book :) each chapter focuses on a different specialty and it is so frustrating :) the author does a great job bringing in current events and tracing the origin back to history :) one thing that i’m going to take with me for forever is when women are asking doctors for help, if you can relate things to actions such as “i can’t lift my baby” or “i can’t cook for my husband” then you are more likely to get treated faster :) love to hear it :)
