I liked this book but not nearly as much as book 1. The scribe was highly addictive and interesting but The Singer put too much focus on the separation of Ava and Malachi. I love their relationship but I wish everything else didn't have to take a backseat to empathize how special it is. I'm really interested in this world and the mysteries that have been hinted at, like who Ava is, but I'm hoping book three fixes some of the pacing issues. I also really love the secondary characters especially Rhys, Damien, and Leo I hope we get a lot more of them in the next books.
