Nicola Beauman, the woman behind Persephone Books, is doing such a fantastic job of reprinting forgotten and/or neglected works of female writers! Every single Persephone book I have had the chance to read has been a treat: very well-written, thought-provoking, delightful... Well, I'm afraid the delightful bit doesn't apply to Harriet but it is still an excellent read! 

The story is horrifying and its characters absolutely evil but Elizabeth Jenkins writes beautifully. Her retelling of this disturbing story is fascinating and haunting. A memorable read.
