The first third of the book sets up Paks military career. I found it a little slow and wanted the story to move on. However, after reading further I understand why it was necessary. The book picks up speed at the start of the second third of the book and by the last part of the book you are on a roller coaster ride of a story. Definitely a book to read and not put down with the slow beginning.
