Keedie

A Kind of Spark was such an amazing book and when I heard that Elle McNicoll was writing a prequal I already knew that it was going to be special as I had loved the Characters and seeing them 5 years before the events of A Kind of Spark is such a special experience!

Keedie is set 5 years before A Kind of Spark and as the title suggests is a book that is told from Keedie’s perspective. You get an understanding as to why she has such a close relationship with her little sister Addie and how this came to be. I loved following along with the story to see Keedie realise that she can change things to help make her sisters life easier and to make sure that she is there for her as a role model that she never had herself.

We get to see Keedie and Nina's relationship as they both turn 14, the strains teenagerhood and peer pressure can put on a relationship. But family relationships are hard at this point - you want to be you but it's hard to find that with everyone yelling what they think you should be.

This is a story of courage, compassion and learning to love oneself and knowing that even the smallest steps can have the biggest impact. This Is a wonderful prequel novel and I look forward to many more books by Elle McNicoll.
