I have come to love All of Elle McNicoll’s writing and get super excited when I see that she has a new book for me to dive into and this one was no different in the excitement. As a Neurodiverse person, I love how this always comes into the story and makes me relate to the characters on the Page and getting swept up into the story.
We are Taken into the heart of Lake Pristine; A Small town where secrets are lingering, old rivalries seem to be resurfacing, and love is blossoming in rather unexpected places. We meet Jasper Montgomery. She has returned to Lake Pristine for the holidays, her heart heavy with secrets. She plans to bid farewell to her childhood home before embarking on a new chapter far away. But fate has other plans. When Jasper accidentally disrupts her sister's engagement and crosses paths with her teenage adversary, budding filmmaker Arthur Lancaster, her carefully laid out exit strategy takes an unexpected turn.
McNicoll excels are creating Characters who feel like real life old friends and helps to be them to life through her descriptions. Jasper's vulnerability and determination resonate, while Arthur's brooding charm adds layers to their dynamic. Their chemistry crackles off the pages, leaving readers rooting for their happily-ever-after.
This is a lot more than a Romance book; it felt like a real love story being played out across the pages. It felt like over the course of the book we really got to know Jasper and it was her chance to learn to love herself, it was about Family, Friendships, learning to navigate life while you have Autism and learning to me relationships with your family.
This Book Is like a warm Hug over Christmas with the book feeling like a warm hug whenever I picked it up. Whether you're a seasoned romance reader or a newcomer, this book will leave you with a smile and a longing for your own Lake Pristine.
