Great read, super interesting. I have a lot of feelings about her ending up with a Roman lol but I really enjoyed the power of the feminine in this!

I enjoyed learning more about Boudicca and life in Rome during a volatile period. The story is well written, and I know many people have loved this book and rave about it...but...I feel like I would have enjoyed it more if the characters were not based off actual historical figures. It's mostly fiction, a made up story, a reimagining of what life may have looked like for one of Boudicca's daughters. I just feel like the author chose the least likely possibility, and it feels like an insult to everything Boudicca (queen of the Iceni, leader of an incredible bold uprising against the Roman empire) stood for and against. It seems very unlikely to me that her daughter would have ended up with a Roman. I also feel like the strong, bold, fierce Solina became a shell of her former self, and at the end of the book she almost like a completely different character and not in a good way. But overall, a decent read, as long as you bear in mind it is not an accurate historical representation.
