3.25 ⭐️ I finished Cade and Willa’s story in one sitting because I genuinely couldn’t put it down. To be honest, I was rushing to get to reading Reckless, but I enjoyed this, nevertheless. Luke was an adorable addition to this grumpy x sunshine story. I appreciated how Elsie Silver touched up on the conflicts and insecurities couples in age-gap relationships face. I don’t read a lot of the trope and it’s not exactly a favorite, so Heartless was definitely a first. Again, little to no conflict, just feel-good all over and let me tell you Cade has a fucking dirty mouth. The smut just keeps getting better to the point where I don’t know if I want Willa or be her. The banter and family dynamics here were hilarious as well (big shoutout to Harvey for the ‘innocent’ blowjob jokes). Currently rushing to Jasper and Sloane as we speak.

Let me just start off that this book absolutely did not disappoint.

First, super love the pacing of this book. I don’t know, it has that feels of “right place, right time” per se? For someone like me who tends to reread so I can get the idea of what the author is trying to say, I did not have to do that here (definitely a good thing because I was able to really read continuously lmao).

Now with the characters. With Willa, ughhhhhh I freaking love her so much. She the first person I think of whenever I wish I had a big sister. She’s so cool and charismatic that makes you really root for her. The layers in her personality as well is so good because she’s not just this type of “‘go with the flow’ type of girl she really sells to everyone. Her connection with everyone, especially with Luke is so so precious. She’s also not just this type of wild child like she portrays. I really love the way she’s written honestly and one of my most favorite girl from all the books I’ve read.

As for Cade, precious daddy Cade. Now first and foremost, he definitely is my type; older guys, responsible, one who works that involves heavy labor. He literally has ticked all of my preferences in men. But the reason why he’s one of my top tier men (almost head to head with Archer Hale, which is a big thing lol), is how he conveys he’s thoughts with being the eldest. With the responsibilities, duties, and everything. Every worries he had really hits home as someone who’s also the eldest in the family. All of the things an eldest child has thought about, he was able to say it in words. I honestly just really love it. The way his role as well has an impact with his actions, how it tethered with how he sees himself as an individual, not just this single grumpy dad that has too big of a job that has no time with other things. His love for his son as well is just beyond me given the circumstances, but I really felt it genuinely.

I actually really like how Luke was written as well even though he is a little human (don’t really vibe with kids so this is a big revelation for me lmao).

Smut wise, definitely well written. It feels kinda dragged out though but nothing negative to its impact on how it’s read. I don’t feel forced reading it honestly hahaha. I still feel awkward when the 🐓 word is mentioned (but that’s all on me lol).

Something I wish we would’ve seen here is more background with Willa’s family (they honestly sound so cool like I feel we were robbed haha) and Cade’s history with his ex. Also it kinda gave me the ick that they really pointed out the age difference (I think it only happened twice, but the fact it happened that much is already too much for me lol). Like ok yes we get it, she’s young and too old for him, we knew that the moment we picked up this book, but you don’t have to being it up every now and then lol. It’s just a minor thing honestly. And that plot twist though 👀

Overall, I super love this book and already one of my faves. Really happy that it didn’t disappoint like the first one (and this one does deserve the hype). Super excited with the remaining books from this series.

So I did enjoy this less than „Flawless“ but I think I just wasn’t in the right headspace…

I do love the chemistry between Willa and Cade and the way she cared about Luke is super adorable.

Honestly this book made me super jealous. I want a love like that.

I didn’t enjoy the pregnancy trope but I never do. I can overlook it because it didn’t feel too forced.

Willa and Cade were super relatable and I recognized myself within them. It’s really nice to see them both love and be loved like that.

And I realize in that moment maybe I am heartless after all, because the beautiful girl with the copper hair grinning back at me right now is the one who stole it.

A love I've never known. One I'm not so sure I deserve, but one I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to preserve.
