Oh, man, I really hate it when best friends start to hate each other. I mean, honestly, that is what pulled me into this story.

I enjoyed reading this for a quick, fun read, but really? That end? That was just rude... Hahaha...

I feel like the story could have been more well done, with less obvious plot points. It was kind of obvious to me what was going to happen from very early on..

I will definitely read the next book whenever it comes out, but this wasn't the best book ever, by any means.

You all know me, if a book is hugely polarized in the blogger world I have to read it. When there's so much hate spewed against it on one side, and so much love on the other side, I must figure out which side I fall on. I had absolutely no expectations one way or the other when I picked up Elusion from the library. I just wanted to give this book a shot and, you know what? I actually really liked this.
 
Regan lives in a world that is a shattered version of our own. Acid rain falls from the sky, black poisonous clouds hover overhead, and an O2 shield is pretty much necessary most days if you don't want to choke to death on the chemicals floating in the atmosphere. Nature as we know it is gone. So how do people get away from their problems? An Escape. An Elusion. Before he mysteriously died, Regan's father invented this amazing way to take a "trip" to somewhere new. Sounds amazing, right? Or is it?
 
I have to say, I was impressed with the world that was built around Regan. Although it wasn't flat out explained, it was immersive enough that I didn't even question it. I was lost in the desolation around these people, and the fact that they just ignored it all. I'm a sucker for new technology, and Elusion was amazing to me. Imagine a way to travel to somewhere new, to somewhere that hasn't existed in years, in complete safety. Of course that kind of technology always comes with its fair share of flaws. This one was no exception.
 
There was nothing I could do but hold on as Regan flew through one part of the mystery after another, uncovering all the dirty laundry that her father's company was trying to hide. Once again I'll admit, it wasn't exactly a perfectly plausible story line. Still, this was a new world. It was a vividly built world, and I was willing to forgive a lot simply because I couldn't help but feel caught up in it all. I wanted to know what Orexis was hiding, and you couldn't have stopped me if you tried.
 
The absolute only thing that slightly irked me was the quasi-romance that Elusion brings to the table. Regan was such a strong character. She fought for what she believed in, and never gave up no matter how many people tried to break her down. Seeing her loose it over a guy she just met, no matter how handsome he was, bothered me. I can't deny it. It also made for an ending that, although the cliffhanger is killer, was rushed as well. Still, I know I'll be back for more. This series has hooked me. You can mark me solidly on the "I liked this" side of the Elusion camp, and I'm proud of it.

Sounds like a fancy gadget advertisement, does it not? This is what captured my interest the most, as I am a technology/gadget freak, this is something that I would definitely have bought if it existed. If I could escape to any landscape on wanted to and do outdoor things, man I would be there all the time! This cyber world can be accessed any where at any time all you need is a fancy watch [aka equip], visors, and a head set. In Elusion you can climb mountains, white water raft, scuba dive, etc. You want to know the best thing? If you fall or get hurt...you will not die nor will you be hurt in the real world. 

WARNING: Elusion contains severe side effects such as: nausea, head aches, dizziness....and dirty secrets. Which, Regan, our main character is about to find out. Regan has just lost her father in a tragic accident. Who also happens to be the founder and creator of Oxeris ( the company the runs Elusion) and Elusion. Since the death of her father, Regan has yet to step into the world of Escape. Although she would wish nothing more than to escape her broken life. Yet, she might just get what she wished for as something is going wrong with Elusion: kids getting sick, her best friend keeping secrets, and addictive tendencies that are not suppose to exit. 

Regan is doing the best that she can with what she has. Her mother is always in the Escape so she never is really "around." Her best friend Patrick, who is around, has taken over the Oxeris company that her father had built, yet she rarely sees him. Everything changes, though, when Regan see's her father in the Escape, which is not suppose to happen, and he is telling her "not safe." I do not truly know if I enjoyed the character of Regan. She was not hard to read, I felt that she was a very naive character. She didn't notice her bestfriends attraction and she was in denial with certain aspects of Elusion. I felt sometimes that her actions did not make sense and really did not connect to the character at points through out the book. But, I did not hate her. I enjoyed her antics and her determination.

One character that I did not like since the beginning was Patrick- Regans best friend. He always felt off to me. He, I felt, was replacing Regan's father. Meaning he let other's think he created Oxeris and Elusion. That pissed me off, he did not even care of Regan's feelings at all through out the book. He was just a guy with a bunch of dirty secrets.

Then we have Josh, out of all the characters, he was my favorite. He felt more really then the rest of Klam and Gabel's characters. He is also the potential love interest of Regan...which I think is pretty cool.

I enjoyed the plot...however, I felt like there could have been more. Although I can not really pinpoint the exact thing it needed. A little more sprucing maybe or a little more detail. Either way it needed something. I did not love love the book, but it was definitely a good read and I plan on picking up the next book when it comes out.

My suggestions: RENT/BORROW.
