Much like "The Heir and the Spare" this book was enjoyable, a cute quick read, but nothing unheard of. 
While I did enjoy the book I felt like the story fell a bit flat. It was trying new and different things, but that made it feel more like a really fleshed out fanfiction instead of an original novel. I felt like the characters didn't have all that much chemistry and ended up liking the friendships a lot more than the romantic relationship this book focuses on. 
I had also been hoping for more of Scotland and the Highlands in this book and was disappointed to find out most of it took place at university in England. 
All in all it was not a bad book, I had a good time reading "Everyday Magic", but it is far from a favourite of mine.
