Oh wow, I can’t believe I actually forgot to review this! I mean, Drew Evans, how could I forget??!! Unbelievable!!

Before starting this review I should say that I never hardly ever read books like this one. I’ve never been into romance (contemporary or not) because I find the stories and characters much too clichéd and predictable. And don’t get me started on the cheesiness! Anyway, so many of my friends read Tangled and told me it was absolutely hilarious and not your typical romance that I finally decided to give it a try…

Oh. My. God. Drew. Freaking. Evans. 

This is probably the funniest book I have read in years. I was pretty much laughing out loud from beginning to end here! The story is told from Drew’s point of view, with Drew talking directly to the reader, which really draws you into the story. I read the first paragraph and I was sold.

Drew Evans is a hilariously irresistible obnoxious pig. He is smug, crude, self-satisfied, arrogant, outrageous, raw, foul mouthed, a total prick and a man whore. He is basically an asshole and he knows it. Worse, he pretty much revels in it. Until he meets Kate that is. That’s when all hell breaks loose and he comes down with the “flu.” Some people might be offended by Drew and his ways but I just LOVED him. He really steals the show here. Still, I did like Kate’s character as well. She is competitive, funny, snarky and isn’t fooled by Drew’s act. She can be quite stubborn too, which gets pretty annoying towards the end of the book. Another character worth mentioning is Mackenzie, Drew’s very clever (and very funny) 4-year-old niece. Dee-Dee was was fun too!

In all honesty the story in itself is far from being original but it is Drew’s voice that makes all the difference here. The same story narrated in a more conventional way would have been boring to death and absolutely uninteresting. 

The only reason I didn’t give Tangled 5 stars is the cheesy ending. Because yes, this is romance after all. What Drew does to win Kate back was definitely too over-the-top cheesy for me. I won’t even mention the lengths he goes to here, the whole thing was pretty much ridiculous from beginning to end. Still, this was a great, light, fun read and I’m actually considering reading it again just for kicks. That’s how much I loved Drew! :)

There’s a definite dearth of m/f romance novels solely from the hero’s perspective, so when I had to read a book featuring a rich hero or heroine, I chose this one out of curiosity, since it won the Goodreads choice award back in 2013.

“I was kidding. Why do you have to be so fucking serious all the time? You should learn how to take a joke.”
“I can take a joke,” she tells me, sounding insulted.
“Yeah? When?”
“When it’s not being delivered by a childish jackass who thinks he’s God’s gift to women.”
“I am not childish.”
God’s gift on the other hand? My record speaks for itself.”

Drew Evans starts out as, well, a complete jerk, whose life revolves around his work as an investment banker and his family though. His Saturday nights, though, are dedicated to going out drinking with his friends and finding one (or more) willing women. He’s happy with the way things are, until he meets a pretty brunette who turns him down. Turns out, she’s the newest hire at his company, Kate, and he’s assigned to mentor her, which eventually turns into them competing for a lucrative new client. Beginning-of-the-book Drew is a slime ball, the kind of guy who’s not deterred that the latest object of his affections is engaged. It’s somewhat watered down by the fact that it’s coming from his perspective, in a very honest and conversational style that directly addresses the reader. Besides sexually harassing Kate, he’s constantly trying to sabotage her work. Honestly, while it’s funny, it’s also pretty awful, and even with the hint at the beginning that he was going to get his comeuppance, I was tempted to put it down. What saved it, though, was Kate and how absolutely wonderful she was, including how unwilling she was to put up with his crap. Eventually, after the big screwup, Drew does become a reformed man and does the most prolonged and ridiculous grovel I have ever read in a romance novel, from a three-piece marching band to Tiffany jewelry. Watching him turn from a “guy” to a “man” was a pretty enjoyable and hilarious experience, and, frankly, the whole book is pretty funny, especially the banter between Drew and Kate. I also liked the side characters, including Drew’s sister Alexandra and her daughter Mackenzie (and her swear jar).

Her cheeks are flushed, her breathing’s fast, and she’s got murder in her eyes.

I raise my brows hopefully. “Crazy? Like you want to rip my shirt open again?”
“No. Crazy like the itch of a yeast infection that just won’t go away.”

While I thought Drew’s groveling was perfectly proportional to how much of a jerk he was, parts of it were completely over the top to me and, frankly, it drug on for much too long. Some of it just reinforced his jerk status, honestly, rather than the repentant relationship-minded lover he was going for. Between that and some of his more jerky behavior (the workplace harassment), it lessened my enjoyment of the book.

Overall, though, it was a decent book, with some very memorable and hilarious moments. It is the first in a series, and I think I will probably add the next to my TBR, mostly out of curiosity whether Drew can keep up his reformed playboy status. If you’re looking for a book from the hero’s POV and don’t mind asshole heroes, then you will probably like this book!

There were parts of it that I enjoyed, the romance was pretty good and there were some funny lines. But the men just pissed me off so much! They were all such assholes, including the main character. I mean, ya, Drew improved a bit at the end, but I have some serious trouble believing it is permanent. Also they are all complete pigs. "Guys think about sex every 5 seconds..." are you kidding me? How cliche can you get??? That's not even possible, they would never accomplish anything! 

I could also really do without the super detailed sex scenes. I just don't think erotica is my thing. There just isn't enough depth in it for me. Recommended for people that really enjoy romance and/or erotica.

This book... this book is AMAZING I couldn't put it down, it was that good. When I satrted it I expected something normal, nothing out of the ordinary, a good book. But I wasn't expecting this! I love it when you aren't expecting something amazing and it blows your mind. Go read this book now really. I loved that it was in Drew's POV it was mesmerizing to be inside a guy's mind and know nothing of what the woman is thinking, it was refreshing. I want my own Drew right now *sigh* new book crush coming right up!

This book. Was. Hilarious. I seriously COULD NOT stop laughing while reading it! And you know what happens when a book makes me laugh out loud constantly? I end up loving everything-the characters, the story, the entire book. Tangled was such a great read. It’s fun, light-hearted, dorky at times, and all told by a male-POV. It’s romance at its finest.

I love Drew Evans. Yep, I just gotta say it. I love Drew Evans. He’s funny, sarcastic, hot, smart, and sexy, so what’s not to love about him? Oh, except… he’s a manwhore. Yup, Drew is a manwhore, and it takes a special woman named Katherine Brooks to change his manwhoring (is that even a word?) ways. At the start of the book, Drew is a mess. Katherine has dumped him, and he doesn’t know what to do with himself anymore. But instead of making it cheesy and sappy, Drew narrates in such a way where he sucks you into the story and you just can’t stop reading-or laughing! And you can’t help but root for Drew and hope he gets his HEA.

It was so entertaining to see Drew slowly falling in love, and freaking out about it. He’s never felt that way before for any woman, and it’s just the funniest thing to see him to falling in love with a woman who takes no crap from him. Their relationship actually starts off as a hate-at-first-sight thing. Enemies to lovers! But when Drew realizes Katherine is IT for him, he goes all out to win the love of his life, and hilarity ensues. Honestly, the things Drew does are insane and would drive anybody crazy. But at the same time, he’s just so sweet and adorable.

I had such a fun time reading this book. It’s a perfect read for romance lovers, although, fair warning, Drew holds nothing back in his narration. He tells it like it is from a man’s POV. And oh my god, it’s freaking hilarious.
