Beautifully written from the perspective of an intelligent 5 year old boy. Although he lacked the knowledge of the outside world, he was extremely intelligent. I fear that we misunderstand kids and what they can bring to the table. Their ideas and outlooks are refreshing. I caught myself asking more questions about the world while reading this book. Donoghue captured how confusing and stressful navigating the world can be, especially the unknown. Despite the difficulty of adjusting to a whole new world, Jack remained curious, observant, and perceptive, allowing the reader to understand other important character dynamics.

surprisingly enjoyed this, i borrowed it from the library omg who am i? it told a good story, a story that needs to be heard. and it was really good. i think the end dragged a bit, but it was still enjoyable.
