That was so good 😭 much like the last one I was expecting way more angst between the mc’s but I was surprised at how little there was, and there wasn’t even any relationship angst whatsoever which made it ever better. 

This was definitely heavy on the emotional side which is exactly why I loved it. It was heartbreaking to see how Laurent dealt with all the past abuse he’d been through and seeing his all progress made me tear up so much. 

A huge bonus was seeing Max and Misha still being so cute together. Technically this could be read as standalone but reading book three and four together makes for a way better experience.

i've finally learned my lesson: skip companion novels and just read the one in the series you like the sound of!!!!!!

this book was lovely, and everything i needed and didn’t even realize. it really feels different reading a book written by a queer author as opposed to a straight one. it hit different, it just do.

it was also such a breath of fresh air to read a mlm sports book where the sport itself was actually talked about AND the narrative tension wasn't homophobia (not that that's not real and can't be written well, it is, and can, and has been, but i can only read so much of it before i get well and truly depressed) and i loved the soft and strong unfolding of these two. it surprised me in it's realness and i loved that. anyway this was very nice and a good surprise because i really needed it and am having a hard time getting into any books at all right now. ty for your service avon gale.

I wanted to like this one more than I did. In all honesty hearing about Empty Net is what made me want to read this series, but it seems the high expectations might have ruined it a bit. It was a decent story but overall felt too unrealistic and a bit frustrating to read. It features an eating disorder without really featuring it — I get the not wanting to be triggering, but I could barely tell Laurent had an ED without being told outside the beginning. A heavy handed recovery of issues not really shown is something that always drives me up the wall.
