Written in middle class USA the 60’s, so his examples are like some weird Americana come dine with me. Obviously, most of the world do not have these cocktail parties, and it turns out that women aren’t just housewives who need to be kept busy(!), so the games need decoding a bit into the readers current reality. However, it’s all interesting stuff and clearly sets the important ‘games’ foundation for other writing that follows, such as Karpman’s drama triangle theory.
