I appreciate the message the author was attempting to get across but this book read like a low-ranked One Direction fanfiction on Wattpad. The only difference is that Wattpad is free.

This was an impulse mood read after seeing this as a Kindle Daily Deal! And for a book by a debut author that was just released this early August, I was instantly HOOKED. Major plus points for this!

Enter the world of American corporate BigLaw "dripping with industriousness and capitalism," one so far removed from my own that it was just way too interesting to pass up. It's a book that invites you into its world of glitz and glam, its shit and debauchery, but it also depicts an industry very much steeped in the reality of systemic sexism and harassment that's as real as it gets.

The format of the novel was intriguing and the story reeled me in and immersed me in it easily. Now that it's been a bit of a while since I read this and write this review, the story surprisingly grew on me. Some parts of the novel still stay with me as little nuggets of knowledge on how to navigate professional corporate life. This made me realize that I was truly immersed in its more-than-fictional reality and I completely applaud that in a book and its author.

Plot-wise, it was okay. Character-wise, could definitely be better. This might be the first book I genuinely enjoyed WITHOUT actually liking any of the characters, and characters make up so much of the story for a reader like me. By the end, well, let's just say that it did serve its purpose as an eye-opener and book that can get you out of a reading slump. Sadly, I just didn't care for any of the characters at that point.

3.5 - This started so strong & I was so invested. As a future female corporate lawyer I know what it means to enter “The Boys’ Club” and was ecstatic to read what is described as a sexy, intriguing thriller type book.

It is sexy and intriguing and is exactly what I thought it would be for the first 75% and then it takes a turn that felt out of the blue and the ending is lukewarm. It felt largely unfinished and as a reader I was disappointed.
