Rebel, Bully, Geek, Pariah

Rebel, Bully, Geek, Pariah

Erin Lange2016
The truth is that jail is a place where you can still hold on to hope - hope you'll be bailed out, hope you'll be found innocent, hope you'll get a second chance. Four teenagers, never destined to be friends - one rebel, one bully, one geek and one pariah, find themselves on the run from corrupt police officers in a stolen police car. How can you prove your innocence when the people who are supposed to protect you are the ones out to get you? A beautiful, thrilling story of rebellion, and of friendship triumphing against all odds.

This review was originally posted on Latte Nights Reviews Rebel Bully Geek Pariah was a story that I thought was going to be fun and light. Let me tell you it that while it was fun, it was some sort of fast-paced mystery thriller that was done really well along with an adventurous night. We have four main characters that normally wouldn't have been friends but circumstances brought them together and they must endure a whole night together, running away from danger. This story only has one point of view, which is Sam's, the "pariah" and it's told in Before the night all four characters spent together, the night of, and After which is present-time Sam telling her mother about that night. I liked that this story was divided in three, as I mentioned above, because we get to read just a bit of the aftermath of that night and a little bit of a background on the characters from Sam's point of view. I would have liked if each character had their own point of view to give a more personal feel to the story and a connection to the characters, since there was no depth to the characters and therefore I couldn't feel anything for them. The characters turned out to be annoying at times which irked me, especially with all the stupid decisions they were making. The plot twist had my mind going crazy for a bit since I had not seen that coming at all and the ending added another twist to the story that I liked. Overall, this was a quick, enjoyable and entertaining story, despite my dislikes towards it. I received an eARC for free in exchange for an honest review.
