Ernest Hemingway

Capturing the angst of the post-World War I generation, known as the Lost Generation, this poignantly beautiful story is now released in an 80th anniversary edition.

The Sun Also Rises

Once you get used to this prosey style of describing an interesting day exactly like an uneventful day, and once you get familiar enough with the characters to recognize

they’re saying something without being given descriptors of the dialogue (because Hemingway rarely gives any), it’s a very immersive story. The lack of any metaphors, imagery or flowery language whatsoever successfully gives the impression of a functional depressed protagonist going through the motions of life, partaking of the little pleasures yet somehow completely detached from them. Anyway, it’s definitely made me interested to read more of Hemingway’s work.
