Very biased 5 stars but all my 5 stars are very biased!

Have yet to read the works cited, but this book shocked me in ways I didn't expect. To depict the essay or essence of the essay, expounding on the coined term "essayisms" in such a way that feels like various extensions of the self blew my mind away

Whether he is writing on origins, aphorisms, coherence, vulnerability, anxiety, or a number of other subjects, his command of language, his erudition, and his own personal history serve not so much to illuminate or magnify the subject as to discover it anew through a kaleidoscopic alignment of attention, thought, and feeling, a dazzling and momentary suspension of disparate elements, again and again.
