Reviews

This was a quick fun read. It really kicks off everything for all the other books, obviously, and is a well-written first book at that. The characters are well thought out and have a good balance of funny and serious. Honestly, I was surprised by how well it was done for a book meant for younger readers. If you like retellings then I definitely recommend it if you want a light read.

Why did I read this book that is so clearly directed at an audience much younger than myself? I'll tell you why. It was recommended to me and my first thought was, "no way would I ever read this." Then I went ahead and read the review and I realized something. With a different cover and maybe title, I would snatch this book up in a second regardless of how young an audience it was written for. I admit it. I judge books by their covers and I tend to regret it. So, I found it available as an ebook through my library and I read it. I actually really enjoyed it. I'm not going to proclaim this book a masterpiece. It was obviously written for young girls and was a very easy and quick read. I think this is the sort of book that's good to just read through really quick and get your mind off of things. I was in the middle of another book when I started this book. That book was starting to stress me out because it was a sort of depressing situation. So, I read this book and it was a very nice distraction. I would recommend this to anyone who just wants to take a break from all the drama of real life as well as other books and read something that doesn't require lots of thinking.
