Tessa is not your average wolf shifter and this is so not your average wolf shifter story! All my expectations for this book based on the concept of “shifter story” were completely blown away by the actual content. Everly Frost seems to have a talent for taking a tried and true trope or formula for a genre and making it her own, making it feel completely fresh and new and giving it a totally different spin. I can’t even express how much I love this story. As the title implies, it was dark, it was gritty, it was emotional, it was absolutely gripping. I did not expect the ending at all and I really cannot wait for the next book to find out what happens for Tessa!

First of all, loved it! This author proves time and time again that she excels at taking tried-and-true themes and tropes and spinning them into something magical and new and completely surprising in the best way. Shifters have been done a million times by now, but Tessa and Tristan are shifters like no others. I don’t want to spoil any of that, but this was definitely an awesome read. This book is a little darker, a little grittier, a little more violent, but it’s all to a purpose and makes sense for the storyline. Then, that ending, wow! I did not put this down a single time once I started reading, I couldn’t. The whole thing, start to finish, was amazing! I can’t wait for the next book!

What an absolutely perfect and thrilling end to this amazing series! Yes, there is another book listed, but it is a sort of spin-off, this was the end to Tessa and Tristan's story. So, if you like to wait for a series to be finished to read, start reading!! I loved how this ended so much! I have to say, I couldn't see how this was possibly going to end well, but they pulled it off in a rather unexpected fashion! Everly Frost is amazing at putting a fresh spin on tired genres and this entire series has been no exception. I will miss Tessa and Tristan and hope we might get to see more of them in the future!
