What can I say…Evie Dunmore can do no wrong!! I loved everything about this book and this series. The women are amazing and their men will do anything for their happiness, what more could you want!!

My definite favourite of the series (after I was so disappointed by books 2 and 3, especially). Not only did Catriona and Elias have such excellent chemistry but the novel seemed to discuss a range of political issue in much more depth and much more seriously. Given that one of my main complaints in previous installments was that I felt such matters had been treated too frivolously, I can see how I would be happy with that. Catriona also appears to feel attraction towards women which addresses another one of my previous comments, to a degree.

Also, I have to admit, I think Catriona might be the character closest to my temperament so I could only ever be biased. 

There were still a couple of things that raised my eyebrows but I found the romance hot and compelling while still well balanced against the historic and political plot and backdrop so I am a happy camper.

This was definitely my least favorite book of the series. That being said, I did still have a great time, and still features Dunmore’s well-written, well-rounded characters. I loved Elias and Catriona is a great neurodivergent character. Unfortunately I just don’t think the conflict keeping Elias and Catriona apart really had legs and their ending irked me a bit. The overarching epilogue however, was beautiful and a perfect ending. I will always recommend this series. Moving, well done romance, and a compelling plot - what more does one need?
