honestly loved this book and really learned to love the main character. big recommendation I was sad to see it end

Faithful pulled me in very slowly, but then I was devoted to finding out what happened next. I went between the eBook/audiobook, and really enjoyed listening as I went through my daily routines. The story of Shelby was one of those I would call beautifully sad.

A really beautiful story about guilt, grief and the very real process of surviving. Shelby's journey is so recognizable and relatable at parts. Her relationship with her mother and with her dogs are probably the most beautiful part of all, but all throughout, her journey of grief and guilt and living, even when you don't feel like it, is so real. Everything from her relationships to friendships to jobs and the like.

I had a lot of see-sawing emotions during this story. You can see my complete thoughts here: https://modernwitchsbookshelf.wordpre...

I cried reading this book. Me, who is unemotional as a rock, cried while reading this book. The heartbreak that is portrayed is mind-numbing. But what rose from the ashes….well that was something special. The writing was fantastic. I love a story where it draws you in and makes you feel for the character and this one does. I felt for Shelby. She was broken and she managed to piece herself together. Not perfect but perfect for her right then. The ending wasn’t what I was expecting but it went well with the book. How many stars will I give Faithful? 5 Why? The book was wonderfully written with complex characters that got under your skin. You couldn’t help but care about these characters and weep over the backstories. Will I recommend Faithful to family and friends? Yes Will I reread it? Yes Age range? Adult **I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book** Blog Link: https://readwithme2018.com/2016/05/22...

Blog | Twitter | Instagram | As a note, an e-galley of this novel was sent to me via NetGalley by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not effect my opinions in any way. In true Alice Hoffman fashion, Faithful is one of the most buzzed about releases this year. If you're as big of a fan as I am, you'll know what to expect from Hoffman's words: an emotional roller coaster that will leave a world of thoughts at your fingertips. As poignant as it is warm, and breathtaking, Faithful paints the image of a life still learning and defining itself. Filled with elegant, thoughtful, soul-filled prose, you find yourself sucked in from the very start. If you're reading Faithful and are yet to feel a deep settling love for the characters, you will. They worm their way into your thoughts and it provokes a great many emotions within readers of all ages. Faithful is not for the faint of heart--it focuses on life and its many complexities, it will tug on your heart strings and comes with more than a few of its fair share in trigger warnings. Please, look into the story a bit to get an understanding of what to look for: don't put yourself in any situation that could be triggering to you. Continued: BOOKEDJ
