Fatal Affair is the first book in the Fatal Series. In this book, Senator John O'Connor's murder puts Detective Sam Holland in contact with the man that she had slept with for one night six years before but has never forgotten. Nick Cappuano has been working as chief of staff for Senator O'Connor and discovers his body in the Senator's apartment. In the six years since their night together, Sam has been married and divorced, and her father has been shot and left a paraplegic. Sam has also recently come off of leave she had taken due to a controversial order she gave that left a teenager dead and a mother blaming Sam for his death. Sam and Nick must deal with all of these things as they plow through the evidence and suspects in the Senator's death. This story has lots of details, suspects, and obstacles that the lead characters must work through. The story is so jam-packed that it is difficult to keep all of it straight. Even with all of the clutter, the ending is a satisfying one, making this an overall good story. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, Fatal Justice.

I don't often read romantic suspense books these but I do like them and this book sounded interesting. Fatal Affair is a good book that is quick and easy read that I was able to read in one sitting. It is very well written and it did keep me reading. This book is the first book in the Fatal series and I can't wait to read the next book.
