This book is a manifesto against the concept of "Heimat" (homeland) – a nationalistically glorified idea whose normalization 14 German-speaking authors oppose. To mark the one-year anniversary of the so-called "Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community," Fatma Aydemir and Hengameh Yaghoobifarah have compiled unflinching perspectives on a racist and antisemitic society. In personal essays, they offer insights into their daily lives and hold a mirror up to Germany: a country that sees itself as a model democracy while simultaneously marking a portion of its members as "different," offering them little protection or appreciation.
