I came across this book from a recommendation on TikTok and I thought it sounded interesting. I didn't realize it was a Romeo and Juliet retelling for the first half of the book but I am glad I re-read the blurb before I finished so it wasn't a blindside. It's fast-paced, filled with both unique and familiar angel lore, and the romance was enjoyable. Overall I liked this book --- but it has a few frustrating elements that meant I could only justify 3 stars. There is insta love, which is pretty on-brand for Romeo and Juliet. However the short period of time that this book covers made it a really unrealistic romantic relationship. Especially with the way we are introduced to the characters and their personalities it is kind of strange they fell for each other in a couple of days to the point of giving everything they know and have fought for at the end of a whole two weeks. The fast love didn't work for me in Romeo and Juliet and it didn't work for me in Feather. I think since it's a retelling it could have fixed that short time period and given it a proper space to bloom over a longer period of time. I will most likely continue this series and look into other books written by Olivia Wildenstein because I enjoyed her writing style. Blog Review | Bookstagram

cried so hard at 5am. idek if I want to read the other books because what is the point.

This book is an emotional roller coaster and I thoroughly enjoyed the ride, I needed a good cry and this provided that. Full of love and loss and hope.

** spoiler alert ** I smashed this out and let me tell you the ending KILLED ME, freaking emotional and then I went to find the next book to find out it’s not out 😩😩 I am counting down the days let me assure you 😍😍 The whole book was amazing, and Jarod and Leigh, I LOVE THEM

Totally fell for the main character- Leigh. She was totally personable and I could only wish the best for her as she decended into Jarod's life of crime. She is so sweet and somehow keeps her charm throughout the whole story, no matter what she chooses to do. Olivia (the author) has a way with her writing, that once I picked this book up, I did not want to set it down. Even though the story does feature common tropes, the diverse world she set up and in depth character building is totally hers and is beautifully done.

Beautifully written book and story I absolutely loved this book.I couldn't put it down until I finished it. Characters were well thought out and worked well together. The story was beautiful and thought provoking, Ending wasn't exactly what you expected. I'm left feeling a bit lost as to what happened in the Epilogue and hope this is explored in the next book can't wait for the next in the series

Not supporting this author anymore. Encouraging the slaughter of defenceless children and women is not okay

No one told me this would make me CRY!! Loved every second of this including the tears.

I really liked this book! It pulled at the heartstrings and actually made me cry. I definitely would recommend it! If you’ve read the description of the book or what the book is based off of it is a little predictable but it was still an amazing story!

5 stars ⭐️ damn. A book has not had my attention like this in forever! I couldn’t put it down and some moments were SO cute I couldn’t handle it. Jarod and Leigh’s romance was beautiful. The build up, slow burn, enemies to lovers and the world building was all amazing. HOWEVER. the last 10%.... I felt like the characters made stupid decisions. I don’t think Leigh fought hard enough when it was time.. and it just felt like avoidance and miscommunication. I don’t know. The ending was hard and NOT romance like. If the next book is good this will deff be a 5 star series. But I hope the next couple can live up. The author’s note promises a happy ending for everyone and I just really hope she delivers ❤️

I knew this would break my heart going in since it does say "Romeo and Juliette retelling " but I throughly enjoyed the whole book. I loved the world building, the forbidden romance, and the characters.

This was super enjoyable! I love the world Olivia has built in this – every aspect of the angels and sinners and quest reach Elysium was fascinating. I totally forgot that this has some of the same themes as Romeo and Juliet until the end! Jarod and Leigh are definitely two characters you can feel satisfied rooting for! My only wish is that we would have gotten a little more at the end, but I expect we will see more in the next book! ♥️ Thank you to the author for sending me a copy of the audiobook to listen to!

I could not recommend a book more. The Angel world building was amazing. Leigh was such a great lead character who sees the best in everyone and wants to better the rules for the angels. Taking on Jerod to earn her feathers could destroy her instead of saving her, yet she never gives up on him. Jerod. Oh Jerod. I fell in love with everything about him. He is amazing. I loved their banter and seeing their relationship grow. I LOVED the spicy scenes. The ending wrecked me. This book is such a great love story.
