El Anatomista

Mateo Colon, an anatomist of the Renaissance period, falls in love with Mona Sofia, a Venetian prostitute. Searching to find a potion that will induce her to fall in love with him, he embarks on an exploration of the mysterious nature of women. In an act of daring, he starts experimenting with prostitutes and, something totally prohibited at the time, dissecting dead bodies. He thereby discovers the clitoris, a part of the anatomy until then unknown. However, before making his discovery public he must face the powers of the Inquisition. In the end, he is blacklisted and must find refuge with his beloved Mona Sofia -- Library Journal.
