I guess my partner bought this book for me because of the pretty cover. He didn’t know that this is a poetry collection on transgender story and issue. Not just that, the language is quite hard to understand. Reading other people’s review on this book, I came to know that it is written in middle English bound with some modern ‘language’ (using numbers i.e 2 for to). I tried to use help of web translator of middle and old English, it was useless. Reading and understanding take time and sometimes I’m not sure if I really get the real meaning. Perhaps, the main message here is that, ‘You don’t understand us, the trans. But if you take some time to read and decipher, you will come to know something about us.’ Some of the verses are meant to present double or unclear meanings. I manage to decipher some of the poems and I appreciate them. They are honest, bold and mostly explicit. Reciting them aloud, I found that they are musical and entertaining even without me having to understand them. However, I also think that there are many repetition between the pieces. I’m not sure if this is going to be the future of poetry. I guess it’s just a piece of art on its own.

This book is great for the trans community, open mic and poetry group/class activities.
