The Half-Made World

Someone recommended this to me as similar to The Etched City. I'd say it was more along the lines of The Gutter Prayer or some parts of The Dark Tower series or Annihilation. I found it quite readable, and I was happy to sit back and watch things unfold without having to take any particular side or sympathise especially with any of them. The Hillfolk made me feel a bit uneasy though, maybe the analogue's a bit close.
