A bit slow and predictable, but still a pleasant read.

A coworker recommended this book to me and it was really good! It was a little slow in the beginning but I loved how everything came together at the end.

We reviewed the book and the recent film adaptation in our book club/podcast. The consensus was that the book was about falling in love and the film was about f**king.

Lydia Weekes is a beautiful young woman, although she hardly knows it. Her volatile ex-soldier husband ignores her & then he is gone completely, leaving her to support her son Charlie on her own. A secretive & perceptive schoolboy, Charlie is increasingly left to his own devices - until he befriends the town's new female GP.
