First Term at Malory Towers

i want to go to a boarding school so bad ðŸ˜

(3.25/5) 1 hour 24 minutes - Very hard to rate and review a book I read multiple times as a child, but an enjoyable read if only because of the nostalgia it brings. It is strange to read it now and compare it to how I viewed it as a child. Darrell, the main character, is a lot less perfect than I remember. The writing is engaging, if a little strange, but it was written for the children of the 1940s so that's to be expected.

I loved this reread just as much as the first time I read it as a child. I used to have the whole series on cassette tape as well and couldn’t fall asleep without it on for a long time! The only problem was I would have to get out of bed to switch the tape over so I didn’t really sleep until the last half of each book 😂 The one thing I like about Malory towers (from what I remember of the whole series) is that it still holds up now. No homophobia or racism etc. Just a good old fashioned boarding school story. The girls were really mean in this first book though which I’d forgotten about. I think most characters grew a lot in this first book and I know there’s more growth to come!

she cute.
