** spoiler alert ** Read for the 2020 O.W.L.s readathon TRANSFIGURATION: Animagus lecture - book/series that includes shapeshifting This was very different from anything I have ever read before. I really liked E. Lockhart's Genuine Fraud and We Were Liars, but this is so different. No murders or mysteries, but a simple high school story that turns into a reimagining of the Metamorphosis by Kafka. At first I wasn't too into this book, I got to the 30% mark and got stuck for a while. But as I picked it up again, I flew through it. I liked how her perception of boys changed when she got to see them up close and noticed that, while some are total idiots, others are kind. I was especially touched by her love interest, who turned out to be really nice. My only complaint is that the two boys who had been horribly hit by a bully just have no resolution. I just don't get why they didn't get the police involved or something like COME ON. I wish we had got to see them getting justice and the bully go to prison or something. But for the rest, it was a fun read, soooo weird but I laughed and found some conversations well-handled.
