At the Manhattan School for Arts, where everyone is 'different' and everyone is 'special', Gretchen Yee feels ordinary. She sits alone at lunch, drawing pictures of Spider-Man, so she won't have to talk to anyone, has a crush on Titus but won't do anything about it, and has no one to hang out with when her best (and only real) friend Katya is busy. Gretchen wishes that she could be a fly on the wall in the boys' locker room - just to learn more about guys. What are they really like? What do they talk about? Are they really cretins most of the time? Fly on the Wall is the funny story of how Gretchen's wish comes (a bit too) true . . .

This was very different from anything I have ever read before. I really liked E. Lockhart's Genuine Fraud and We Were Liars, but this is so different.

No murders or mysteries, but a simple high school story that turns into a reimagining of the Metamorphosis by Kafka.
At first I wasn't too into this book, I got to the 30% mark and got stuck for a while. But as I picked it up again, I flew through it.

I liked how her perception of boys changed when she got to see them up close and noticed that, while some are total idiots, others are kind. I was especially touched by her love interest, who turned out to be really nice.

My only complaint is that the two boys who had been horribly hit by a bully just have no resolution. I just don't get why they didn't get the police involved or something like COME ON. I wish we had got to see them getting justice and the bully go to prison or something.

But for the rest, it was a fun read, soooo weird but I laughed and found some conversations well-handled.

"I think this might be the best YA novel . . . I've ever read." —John Green From E. Lockhart, author of We Were Liars—the New York Times bestselling phenomenon—and the uproarious and heartwarming Ruby Oliver books, comes a fast-paced and hysterically funny novel that answers the question: What would it be like to be a fly on the wall in the boy's locker room? At the Manhattan School for Art and Music, where everyone is “different” and everyone is “special,” Gretchen Yee feels ordinary. She’s the kind of girl who sits alone at lunch, drawing pictures of Spider-Man, so she won’t have to talk to anyone; who has a crush on Titus but won’t do anything about it; who has no one to hang out with when her best (and only real) friend Katya is busy. One day, Gretchen wishes that she could be a fly on the wall in the boys’ locker room–just to learn more about guys. What are they really like? What do they really talk about? Are they really cretins most of the time? Fly on the Wall is the story of how that wish comes true.
