I loved the story and the world the Author created, however the writing and words used did kind of take me out of the story a bit sometimes. It just didn't seem to fit the type of setting the story took place in. Still a wonderful read though and I absolutely adored Grasshopper.

i really enjoyed this book but the ending was so strange and had one more twist than necessary i feel. the world building needed more and so did some characters, but i LOVED grasshopper. and i wanted to slap dee for being a 22 yr old boy but that’s how it goes being a 22 yr old boy.

at first this book was like a 4.5 for me and it kinda kept going down, I wrote in my notes app the villain at about the 30-35% mark, I really liked that this starts out as mostly a political fantasy and transitions to murder mystery, and it started so so well. I really like our main character, I think the writing style and his humor probably is not for everyone but I was laughing out loud about it. the problem for me was with the romance; there’s a couple pretty big twists throughout the book relating to romantic interests and ngl some of the plot points were romanticized in the narrative but icked me out a little. overall funny and would read others by this author but it felt a little off towards the middle for me

Incredible world building and premise. And the twists and turns were so good! I loved that our MC wasn’t a suave, put together person but was instead relatable. I love the romance and the tropes layered into this. 

Where it falls short: the humor is sometimes forced or ill-timed. And a lot of the revelations happens in monologues from the different characters which bogged the story down a little bit.
