I read this book for a book club I'm in. 

It was alright, not my favorite mystery book, but it was enjoyable. I think the reason I didn't DNF was because I listened to the audiobook. How he made every character distinct in tone and accent allowed for me to not have to try too hard to remember every character. 

I will probably go read another one of Agatha Christie's books at some point in the future.

Okay, the fifteenth Poirot novel got me all confused. No other before it had me swaying between adoration and boredom like Cards on the Table did. The moment I thought it was going into obscurity, it would pick itself up with an unexpected twist, only to resolve in some banality, later to be revealed a clever red herring! I never knew what to expect at that point. All four suspects could as well be found guilty, along with Poirot himself, and half of Scotland Yard. Well played, Madam. Also, could Mrs. Oliver be some amazing caricature of Agatha Christie herself? The thought of it gives me a chuckle.

There are very few Agatha Christie's that aren't worth reading. This one wasn't a favorite, but I still enjoyed it!

Would have been 4 stars if I actually understood all of the Bridge parts. If you play Bridge, you'll enjoy this even more than I did!

Read this for the Read Christie 2021 challenge April pick, since I'd already read Murder is Easy. This one isn't an insta-love like that one but it did improve on a second reading. I might have appreciated it more the first time round if I had the faintest idea how Bridge works. Do love me some Ariadne not-remotely-subtle-self-insert Oliver goodness though, even if Colonel Race is tragically underused here.

The beginning of this didn't quite catch me, I was curious of Mr Shaitana but by the time of the dinner party I wasn't that into it, despite liking the little group of detectives.

But then the investigation took off and became so much better! Twists and turns took place and it was such a surprise each time. I really did not guess the culprit and I found the solution of the case well-crafted.
So the middle part of the book was really what saved this and made it excellent. It may not be one of my favourite Poirot adventures, but it sure is an incredible one.

Good, although I did dislike some of the more sexist views. I'm assuming Christie is making jokes about how others view her, but am unsure.
