I recommend this for anyone who's beginning a relationship with someone who's HIV+ or who has AIDS. It's not an immediate death sentence for that person or the relationship.

The art was the only thing that kept me from giving it five stars; it's just not my cuppa.

A beautiful little exploration of the author's experiences falling in love with an HIV positive woman and her young HIV positive son in a time period where the stigma against HIV people was still extremely significant (not to say that it has gone away today, but there's been a significant number of changes to how the disease is managed since). It was extremely wonderful to see the focus of this novel be about the love between the two and how they manage things together, rather than fear-mongering and external pressures. It's a positive love story in more than one way!
