It’s funny because I’m not a crier. I never cry. Maybe once a year, I have one big epic cry just to get all my frustration out of my system, then I’m good for the next three-hundred-and-sixty-four days. I hate the loss of control I feel when I’m sobbing. But lately, I feel like a leaky faucet. All I do anymore is cry.

“Abby.” His voice softens. “Don’t cry.”

Nope. Still crying. I don’t think I can stop.

I don’t know how I can go from post-coital bliss to tears in five seconds, but somehow I make it happen. I can’t stop it.

abby and sam are some of the dumbest main characters i have ever read about. like what makes you think any of this was okay? like i want the two hours it took me to read this back, WITH INTEREST. because what in the fucking hell was T H A T.

Slightly predictable Frieda McFadden story

Lies on plot twist on top of lies and another plot twist! I could barely put it down this was so wild. 

What an interesting story of motherhood, navigating life and liars all tied into one. Absolutely wild!

Freida is going better and better.it was interesting to listen to 

Stressed would the most appropriate adjective that would describe my experience reading this book. The chest pain I had the entire time would be an understatement. I really believed one thing and when it was said to happen it felt too easy, which mean I knew better because of course it was proven to be incorrect. Thank goodness by the way. There were some things that I did figure out and won’t lie I can’t remember one detail when everything was being revealed so I don’t know if it was a plot hole or if I was so stressed by everything else I missed it. But while this is a storyline you could assume what would happen Frieda found a way to have me hooked and so heavily invested that I couldn’t stop until I was finished. Which is difficult when I read this in my available moments while working. Let’s just say I may not have given my best work performance today because I was needing answers.

Frieda is really good at writing thrillers. This was interesting to listen to. I thought it would be predictable but there was a plot twist at the end.

One must remember when reading a Freida book that there will always be an accomplice and it is rarely who you expect it to be. 

Abby and Sam have been struggling to become parents for so long and they feel like they are starting to get too old for the job. With failed pregnancies and infertility they are excited to find out they are about to adopt a baby boy but even that dream gets crushed when the pregnant teen pulls out last minute. 

Sam convinces Abby to adopt an older child but when Abby’s assistant Monica, overhears the sad news she suggests a surrogate and volunteers. Sam is on the fence about sharing his seed with someone that works with Abby but he sees how much she wants a newborn baby and reluctantly agrees but only with a thorough background check and a solid contract signed.

Abby is climbing the corporate ladder and on her way to the top. Her dreams of becoming a mom are finally within reach. Her handsome husband is over the moon about his fatherly duties but is it all really this easy? 

I absolutely loved this book! Highly recommend.
