A Change of View
Reviews

A Change of View by Freya Barker is the 2nd book in The Northern Lights Connection series. I am liking the concept of reading mature characters in romance novels. i heard the audio book for a A Change of View courtesy of #NetGalley & Spectrum audio and I truly enjoyed the experience. Anneliese Rennie and Austin Barringer as narrators gave life and personality to the characters. I would definitely recommend this as a light read!! Readometer rating - 3.5*/5

A Change of View (Northern Lights Collection Book 2) by Freya Barker is a great listen. The narrators embodied the characters, and it was easy to distinguish whose point of view was being shared. Leelo is on the road to redefining who she is. On this journey, she decides to take the opportunity to move to a small town and take over her late uncle’s business. Roar runs a fishing lodge nearby and is set in his ways. The chemistry between the characters is noticeable. Overall this is a five-star read for me. I loved the story, romance, and the hint of a mystery. Thank you, NetGalley for a copy of the audiobook. All opinions are my own. #AChangeofView #NetGalley

I didn't expect to like this book as much as I did. In the beginning I had a hard time connecting to Leelo. Maybe because she is my mother's age or maybe because a lot of her backstory wasn't revealed for quite awhile. Roar seemed like a bossy jerk in the beginning that I didn't think I would like. They did become characters I have come to love. This changed while reading though and the beginning was the reason it only got the four out of five stars. In the end I fell in love with this book. Leelo turns out to be a lot stronger than she realizes she is and Roar learns to love again. They both experienced loss in their own way (a failed marriage on both sides and the loss of a good friend on his). I loved that Leelo was determined to make the motel something of her own and wanted to make the decisions herself. I love how selfless Roar was and helped anyone in need. That is just the way he is. The fact that their relationship developed slowly, but fast at the same time had me smiling while reading quite a few times. Even though Roar is a man of few words, I loved the jars he kept and the one he gave her in the end. This book was also really good because of the other characters in the book. I loved Charlie. An old woman with a lot of personality and who knows a lot more than she lets on. Leelo's son Matt, who starts off a bit insecure when he comes for a visit and ends up finding what he wants in life and takes the chance to do what he wants. But also the relationship between him and Leelo grows and he truly sees who she is. The same counts for Gwen. They realized their father was not all he seemed to be. Besides the relationships, Leelo is tested when things keep going wrong. I love how strong she was and how all turned out in the end. I would not mind a trip there in the summer. I definitely want to read more from this author.
