Hitler war kein Betriebsunfall Aufsätze

Presents seven essays, five of them published previously. Pp. 174-181, "Hitler war kein Betriebsunfall" [first published in "Spiegel-Spezial: 100 Jahre Hitler" (Hamburg, 1989)], survey the popularity of antisemitism and racism in Germany during the 19th century. The immigration of East European Jews to Germany and Austria strengthened Hitler's conviction that the Jews had to be exterminated in order to create "Lebensraum" for the German population.
