Full Measures
Reviews

My mom passed away a few months ago, and there are a few passages about death and grief in this book to which I totally relate and with which I wholeheartedly connect. I hadn't expected it going into this book, but it is helping me through my own grieving process in a way.

This was a very emotional read for me. I was crying and swooning all over the shop. I stayed up past midnight to finish because I may have been emotional wreck but I needed to know what would happen. I would recommend this to anyone who read and loved Trish Doller's Something Like Normal. it has military themes but it is just a tool on the story telling really.

Wow wat een boek!

3.75 stars. I loved Josh and although i didn't hate December, she got on my nerves a lot. Still, in the end i really liked this book. It was hard at parts because, there was a lot of grieving...

Find this review and more at kimberlyfaye reads . After reading a book as incredible as Full Measures, I have to stop and ask myself why I don't allow myself to give books more than five stars. This one, honestly, is deserving of no fewer than ten. One of my favorite new adult reads of 2014, I can't recommend this one highly enough to anyone who wants to feel all the feels when they read. Ember's life is falling apart. Her father was killed overseas where he worked as a military doctor. Her mother is falling apart. Her sister is acting out and on a bad path. The only thing she has left are her plans for the future, her best friend and her boyfriend. Until the night she finds out she has none of those things anymore either. But, she finds what she does have is Josh, the guy she's had a crush on forever, who has just walked back into her life and offers her the support and friendship she needs. Their friendship develops into something much more and everything is great, until Ember finds out Josh has been keeping a secret that threatens to ruin what they have. I loved Ember. I felt sympathy for her because in the aftermath of her father's death, *everything* was going wrong for her. The people who were supposed to be there for her weren't. (Bad boyfriend, bad "friend.") She was so busy taking care of everyone else, she had no one to take care of her. She was so strong, but she still needed someone to lean on. Enter Josh. A hockey player and former "bad boy," he was an incredible friend to her when she needed someone most. He was sexy and swoony and so very supportive. The two of them were magical together. Their chemistry was intense. It about broke my heart when they started having trouble. They'd both been through so much and were so much better together than they were apart. I just needed them to see that. You know it's a good book and you've connected to the characters when you want to reach into the pages and shake some sense into them! Everything about this book was absolutely gorgeous. The writing, the characters and their development, it was all perfect. This was so much more than a romance. Sure, that was a huge part of it, but it was about hopes and dreams, family and friendships, love and loss and second chances. It was unputdownable from page one. I fell in love with the characters and I felt everything they were going through. So many emotions – good, bad, and everything in between. It was sometimes sweet, sometimes sad, sometimes sexy and entirely hopeful. I was completely exhausted at the end, but I still found myself wanting more of these characters. "Live, baby. Laugh, cry, scream, and love. Realize that every moment you have is worth every drop of sweat and tears you can give it." I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review. All quotes come from the review copy and may differ from the final version.

That’s what is so impossibly beautiful about you.” WHY HAVE I NOT READ THIS BOOK SOONER!? God, I loved this book. It’s been a while since I wholeheartedly LOVED a book as much as I loved Full Measures, but Rebecca Yarros has stunned me with this emotional, incredible, unforgettable read. I’m kind of mad at myself for not reading this when it first came out – but whatever, I’m now fully on the bandwagon that is the Flight & Glory series. And I have to say it: I LOVE JOSH WALKER!!!! “It is the business of the living to keep on doing so. We are no exception. We are not the first family to lose a man to war, and I fear we will not be the last. But we will be resilient.” Already in the first chapter, Rebecaa Yarros wrings out all the feels – three knocks on the front door shatters and changes Ember Howard’s life as she knows it. The death of her father, a doctor in the army, leaves Ember to have to pick up the broken pieces of her family. I had tears welling up at the pain and devastation Ember and her family were going through – the author truly has a talent at writing emotional scenes. I liked Ember, I really did. I admired her inner strength, the continuous support for her mother and two younger siblings. She’s stubborn and a bit frustrating at times, but totally forgivable and understandable given her situation. But the true star of this book was Josh. Josh Walker, Ember’s crush back in high school, the bad boy senior to her freshman, who steps in to give Ember the love and support she never knew she needed. “You’re so busy taking care of everyone else, you can’t see that someone needs to take care of you. So tell me what you need, and I’ll be that for you.” Josh has changed a lot since high school. Now a mature, reliable man who’s a hockey coach to Ember’s brother, Josh is literally the perfect hero. Not in that too-perfect way, since he has his flaws and secrets, but in that remarkably sweet, loving, and swoonworthy way. I fell head-over-heels in love with Josh and his unwavering love and faith in Ember. He’s always there when she needs him, willing to do whatever it takes to make her live the happiest life. And I absolutely LOVED that Josh actually had a crush on Ember too back then – can he be any sweeter!? “Just let me love you, December, because I can’t stop anyways. I’ve been at your mercy since I was eighteen.” I enjoyed every minute of this book. I was hooked throughout the whole thing – my emotions were going crazy, wanting to cry one moment, then swooning the next. Equal parts heart-wrenching and sweet, Full Measures is undoubtedly an incredible read that fans of romances should not miss. And I’m so glad that I have the next two books in the series ready for me to read, because I just can’t get enough of the author’s writing and storytelling!
