Strange Pilgrims is a collection of short stories from Gabriel García Marquez, written in the seventies and released until much longer. This stories are not the perfect stories you expect from the celebrated author of Hundred Years of Solitude, some of them seem thrown together and are very cliché. 
But the few that work, work really well. 
I really liked the magical realism aspect in some of them like The Saint, Light is Like Water and I Sell My Dreams. 
But the most gripping ones were the ones that spoke of tales of desperation and hopelessness: The Trail of Your Blood in the Snow and I Only Came to Use the Phone.

Après le déjeuner, Rome succombait à la torpeur de mois d'aout. Le soleil de la mi-journée demeurait immobile au centre du ciel, et dans le silence de l'heure on n'entendait que la rumeur de l'eau, cette voix naturellede Rome. Vers sept heures, les fenêtres tout à coup s'ouvraient pour convier l'air frais qui commençait à frémir, et une foule joyeuse se précipitait dans les rues sans autre objectif que celui de vivre, au milieu des pétarades des scooters, des cris des vendeurs de pasthèques et des chansons d'amour montant des terrasses fleuries. 

Cet auteur a l'art de vous faire voyager sans même bouger, chaque phrase, paragraphe, conte est un monde à part, par moment, un mélange entre réalité et imagination.
Tout simplement magnifique!
