I’m a big fan of this whole series, but I haven’t read this sequel series yet. 

This one is big on vibes, and it’s a wonderful character study. The focus is on the internal struggles of Ridley and those around her, so while the stakes are pretty high, the thing that draws you in are the moral debates happening inside the mind of Ridley.

I love the writing style of this whole universe. It’s snappy and real, and has the feel of a beloved CW paranormal show, managing to feel both cozy and suitably twisty.

Ridley is a spectacular character, and I’m so glad we finally get to spend time in her mind. She’s a person filled with contradictions and paradoxes, and yet they all make sense with her. She’s a dark caster, but she has a conscience, and I adored seeing how her ethical beliefs frequently came into conflict with her innate abilities.

I’ve put off reading this series, because I think it was supposed to be a trilogy, but the third book hasn’t come out, yet, and I just couldn’t wait any longer. I wanted to revisit this world.

I really wasn't sure if I wanted to read this book or not because the Caster Chronicles DRUG ON FOR ME. But, Ridley and Link were the bright spot for me in that series so I pushed on. AND I'M GLAD I DID. 

This was by far my favorite from this world. I loved the characters and the plot. It was a super fun and quick read. Excited for the next one!

I honestly think that Ridley Duchannes is my favorite character in the world of Beautiful Creatures, but why did it take me this long to realize it?

Our blond-haired girl with the pink streaks in her hair has come quite a long way since the first book in the Caster Chronicles. This spin-off series is so far only made up on two books, but it follows her story after the gang parts in Gatlin County. There’s an added bonus of dual-perspectives so that you can see New York City through the eyes of Ethan’s best friend, Link, while he tries make a name for himself in the music world.

There’s a part of me that liked the character Nox but I’m still unamused that he was also the one that got Ridley into the current mess that she’s in – let’s not talk about the fact that it was her idea to bet against Nox’s house.

The ending leaves you with a major cliffhanger, so I’d suggest getting the second book, Dangerous Deceptions, if you hate waiting to find out what happened to our two lovebirds.
