I am enjoying some of the twists and turns this story is taking. I wouldn't say the quality or the story is highly original, but I enjoy Morgan Rhodes story-telling. :)

4.5 STARS:

My last book of the year (probably) and a great one to end it on! I definitely feel like it's heating up a lot. I felt like Lucia's development into darkness was much more believable (that was one of the problems I had before) and I love the development in some relationships we get. We also get the introduction of Felix and Amara. I remembered Felix as being one of my favorites and I was right! I still love him! I hated Amara in this book tbh, but I'm really hoping that will change because I love a good femme fatale, and I want to at least like/understand her. Magnus and Cleo are also heating up, but honestly, I think I'll need a little more from them in the next book, just to really sell me. Don't get me wrong, I'm really liking their relationship, but I need some further depth in order to love it. Overall, I'm really wishing I had brought the next book home with me when I left for winter break, cause I want to jump into it right now! This is becoming a series I really love, and I cannot wait for the stakes to rise even higher.

Honestly what can I say at this point besides gush over how fantastic and wonderful this series is! Book 3 is the perfect middle book, setting up the next big plotline and I am here for it.

Let's talk about Cleo first. She is my absolute favorite character and I know some people hate on her, but she has been through so much. She is thinking like a queen and trying her best to restore herself on the throne, or at the very least overpower the king. Of course death is a scary thing, but she will accept it if it is her time.

This leads me into Magnus. He is still mostly a grump and I forgot how mad he made me in this book. ESPECIALLY when he takes a certain princess to bed that is not Cleo. I know he regrets that by the end of the book. I'm ready for Magnus to come into his own and finally stop sulking and put an end to his father. He is powerful enough to do it.

The ending of this book kills you a little bit as we have to say goodbye to a character. I hated how much sorrow their death brought to another character, especially since they feel like they now have no one. The death also brought out the most powerful watcher, so we are finally going to have more of a watcher plotline.

Cannot wait to reread book 4!

OMG THIS BOOK!
Where do I begin? First off, this was such a step up from the 2nd book!
I got action, angst, and a ship of a lifetime. 

People got murdered. 
People got slapped. 
People got kissed. 

I'm deceased. This book has killed me. 

Also, team Magneo for the win because my babies deserve it.

EDIT: So I originally rated this 5 stars right off the bat because I was bombarded by Magneo feels, but then I realized I had a few issues with certain aspects. So I am bumping it down to 4.5

Wow, I absolutely devoured this book! I am officially half way through this series and I gotta say this was my favorite book so far! The character development was amazing, and the world building was not too obvious and you can see the author just slowly introducing new pieces into the story and I love it(and can I just say I love how Magnus and Cleo’s relationship is growing!!!). I’m excited to start the next book and see what happens next!!

Such an unexpected ending. The things people did for love

My goodness. We have come so far, yet stand in the exact same place that we have since book one. Where do I even begin?
 
How about with Jonas Agallon: the rebel who needs taught in the arts of rebelling because even though one of his foes are dead, he has a hard time doing anything and seems to always need saving himself. Not to mention he is really bad at kidnapping. Like badly. 


 
Or Cleiona Bellos: though even though everyone she has ever cared about (er, well almost everyone) has died, she finds herself making out with multiple boys throughout the week even though she is now married to the prince who killed “her first love”. 
 
Oh oh! Or brooding Magnus Damora who loved his sister (well adopted sister later found out) and hates his dad but wants to be his dad (new forms of daddy issues). 
 
And who could forget the famous sister of Magnus, Lucia Damora: who decides that even though this boy gave up his entire reason for existing to assist her and be with her, she is going to date that boy because that sounds like a wonderful healthy relationship that started with him in her dreams.
 
All of these children… not knowing that they probably hold all the worlds in their hands and that maybe, JUST MAYBE, it is time to thrive to do the right thing. Maybe not risking your life for one of your fellow rebels? Maybe not poke a stick at the prophesied sorceress with a short temper? Maybe not kill that guy so your dad may not what your head? Maybe not decide to team up with someone at the end of the book and leave me on a cliff hanger?
 
The writing is just as good, the characters are slowly but surely developing (which is something I desperately love about this series. Characters that are actually growing), and all the puzzles are falling into place for this whole series to blow up in my face.

This series just keeps getting better and better, which make me have high expectations for the other books. I just wish I hadn't started this so soon, because now I have to force myself to wait with reading the next book so I don't have to wait eternally for the final book to come out.

Sono ormai giunta alla conclusione che la signora autrice avrebbe fatto molti più soldi e vendite se avesse creato una storia solamente sul personaggio di Lucia. Volendo ben vedere, questo libro l'ha salvato lei da morte certa. Le uniche parti interessanti sono state le sue (e quelle di Alexius ovviamente ❤️), il resto era solo un continuo di trame strane e prevedibili, più simili al copione di una soap opera che allo sviluppo di un libro. Senza esagerare, continuo imperterrita questa serie solamente per Lucia, il resto dei personaggi è deprimente per non dire insulso.
