A good read, but it wasn’t what I thought it would be. I was expecting the plot to focus heavily on Elizabeth’s revenge, but it veered off course halfway through. And while I do enjoy books focusing on character relationships, I was hoping for more revenge and supernatural elements—maybe some magical realism.
Moreover, Elizabeth and Geoffrey’s relationship was too hot and cold for me. I couldn’t quite track their feelings towards each other because they spent all their time screaming at each other and then making love over and over.
The plot felt very rushed—especially at the end as though there was supposed to be 100 more pages, but wasn’t. Elizabeth dropped her quest for recenge and then the overarching plot got resolved in a chapter and a half. That was it.
Overall, though, it was a good book, but not something I’ll be rereading. It was interesting, but didn’t quote hit the spot.
