I was actually looking for a tropical gardening handbook, so this book delivers about half of what I'd like. Since Florida runs from USDA Zone 8 to Zone 11, one can grow maples in the north of Florida and papayas in the south. What I really wanted was a South Florida Gardener's Handbook, but no such animal was returned by Google searches. Nonetheless this book presents useful information, and it will soon be augmented by my just-ordered copy of Iris Bannochie's bible: Gardening in the Caribbean, which, though sadly out of print, is still available until uncut copies run out.
