Implementing OSI Networks
Explores the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) Network and the seven layers of the OSI Reference Model. Instead of working from a layer-by-layer bottom up description of the OSI Reference Model as traditional texts do, it summarizes the services of the bottom four layers, and then focuses attention on the important three upper layers (a top-down approach). No other current book has the breadth of coverage of OSI network support to applications programs. Among other topics discussed and defined are directory services, electronic data interchange, virtual terminal protocols and office document architecture.
