Cute! I love a “they help me do my dream/goal/list and we accidentally fall in love” trope

this book is a love letter to all the girls with health issues so truly. to all my girlies with chronic pain, you’ll find your red. this made me appreciate my spiffy a bit (but don’t tell him that or he will get a big head). i can understand why this story might fall flat to those who don’t understand, but to those who have firsthand experience, it is very tenderhearted and a necessary reminder that to be loved is to be seen, heard, and believed.

4.5/5.0
„Get a life, Chloe Brown“ was one of the cutest, fastest reads I had this year and somehow it filled my heart up, right to the brim. If you’re in the mood for romance that really focuses on the characters and not much filler plot surrounding them, this might just be the next read for you.
Following a female lead who has Fibromyalgia, this book already was something else, right from the start. At first, I admit, I wasn’t sure how well this all would be handled by other characters in the book, but as her love interest is such a gentle, attentive sweetheart, this really was a cute read from start to finish.
Conquering fears and struggling with behaviour the characters adopted from past, traumatic experiences is one of the main focuses of this story and they do it so well, that I rushed through the whole book in barely two days of reading.
One minor downside for me was the turning point of the story, but that is just a personal preference and it was something that could be explained with the characters’ backstories in mind, so it’s nothing I would deduct too much from my rating for.
This simply put is a cute romance, a quick read and something light, but with substance as well. I enjoy this series very much.

Cute and easy read.

This was so cute and silly. Very good balance of seriousness and romance. I don't usually like romance but this was very nice!

Could not be perfecter. Talia Hibbert is a treasure.

3.5/5 enjoyed the steamy romance but also really appreciated the transparency on what it means to live with chronic illness every day.

me forcing myself to read contemporary straight romances as a science experiment bc,, if theyre that popular they must be ok right? welp not for me.
this book was so very… ok. straight ppl are crazy yall rlly think about sex THAT MUCH???? IF ONE MORE ROMANCE NOVEL MENTIONS THE WOMANS NIPPLES HARDENING, TIGHTENING, PINCHING IM GONNA SCREAM. but again, addictive writing style i read it in a day.

This book was ridiculously cute. Chloe’s personality reminds me a lot of my own, so I definitely relate to her, especially her stubbornness. Red seemed a little like a creep to me in the beginning, but I guess people are kinda weird when they first like someone. The reason I rated it 3 stars is because it felt very predictable. I’ve read several books with the same premise, and there’s hardly anything different about them. I’ve heard a lot of praise for this book about it being different, and it wasn’t. The only thing I can say is different that the main character has a physical condition, which is great since there’s not a lot of representation in that sense. Overall, it’s a cute book. I would recommend it if you want a nice read.

Was looking for a fun, gooey but non-cliché romance in these dreary times and this book absolutely hit the spot.

cute cute

4.5/5 only because I wasn't a big fan of the last "big conflict" that was thrown in at the end, I did like how it was resolved tho, it was quite adorable. However, the book was wonderful and I really liked that it talked about fibromyalgia and men's mental health. And I also loved how the relationship between Chloe and Red just grew gradually. (The only reason it took me a week to read it is that I read a couple of chapters one day and then didn't read at all for a few days and devoured the rest of the book in a day...)

I picked up this book due to the fact I had heard it had great disability representation, great black representation and it was a romance. So it was time to pick up, 'Get A Life, Chloé Brown'. Get a Life, Chloé Brown, in its most general terms is about a young woman who suffers with chronic pain and has a near death experience. These two things result in Chloé losing a part of herself so she creates a list to 'Get A Life'. She enlists the help of her superintendent, Red Morgan, with whom she has a very frosty relationship, with both fancying and hating each other. The book is told from both Chloé and Reds POV. Both Chloé and Red have had shitty experiences in the past and these become hurdles for the pair to overcome. I honestly fell in love with both of them, I also fell in love with Dani and Eve (I'm very excited to read those as well). The love story feels natural when we are shown they both had an attraction beforehand so the haters to lovers felt more natural. I'm also just a sucker for an enemies to lovers. If you can call this enemies to lovers. I was unaware of the disability that Chloé Brown had. I also didn't realise Talia Hibbert had the same. The first few pages her chronic pain sounded familiar. Then she said what it was and I understood why I had recognised the chronic pain. Talia, Chloé AND my mother all suffer from Fibromyalgia. It is also the chronic pain Lady Gaga has. I would read bits out and my mother would say how accurate it was. Fibromyalgia is an autoimmune disease. The immune system attacks the nervous system this results in SEVERE pain. In flair up the slightest tap can cause extreme pain in someone with fibromyalgia. I watch my mother deal with this (and a bunch of other stuff including another autoimmune disease) on a daily basis and I read this in Chloé Brown. Seeing how popular makes me happy cause I may not have this disease but probably THE MOST important person in my life does. The relationship between Chloé and her sisters Dani and Eve, also made me very happy. The relationship between the three is very one built on love and understanding. They are also sisters so loads of bickering, and stressing each other out but they are siblings its what they do 😂. I just loved their relationship. I genuinely loved this book. I loved Talia Hibberts writing style, I also wasn't aware that Talia Hibbert was British.

First finished 5 star of 2024😭😭 SO GOOD AND FOR WHY?!?! Omg I’m gonna finish the whole trilogy idc🏃🏿♀️💨

chronic illness rep was great but book was not for me. tbh i skimmed a lot of it cuz it was just smut which is not what i expected to be reading.

first read 24/08/2021 second read 17/02/2024 hmmmm yeah this is a 3 star but a good 3 star!!!

2.5/5 Don’t get me wrong they were really cute, but I was struggling to finish it. "So I'm doing it for you because that's how people should behave; they should fill in each other's gaps." "Love is certainly never safe, but it’s absolutely worth it”

My first steamy novel heheh. Udah lama ga baca legit romance juga, the fluffiness kinda killed me (in a good way). I like their discussions too, I felt validated for mm being hurt lol. Especially 4/5 for the *ohok ohok* new experience.

I don’t care what you say, this book was the cutest and scrumptious little thing I have read in a while. The fact that they both worked on themselves for each other and changed for the better fOR EACH OTHER?????
The FMC and MMC had such good chemistry, and despite the misunderstandings along the way and the annoying thing that happened at the end, they’re too adorable.
Definitely reading the next book in the series.

absolutely ate this shit UPPPPP

If I could describe Get a Life, Chloe Brown in one word, it would be "cute". First, the representation of a plus-sized woman of color was great, AND the fact that Red made me fall in love with him is another plus. Unfortunately, though, some parts of this book fell short for me. The predictable plotline was actually something Paula and I bet upon and were pretty right about. Some parts of the book also felt like it just didn't fit in with the characters. I kind of got the feeling I was reading two completely different books mashed into one. (Sorry, I'll stick with Jay Kristoff's steamy scenes) Overall, yeah, the book was cute but would I ever read it again? Probably not.

red’s letter is everything they're everything

sorry im a sucker for romcoms and i loved chloe DOWN.

It is such a diverse, fun, cute, steamy, deep and amazing read. 😍😍 I loved Chloe, the poc, plus-sized main character who has fibromyalgia but more importantly, I appreciated representation that you don’t often see. In real life, people have pain and invisible illnesses that they feel like they have to hide, or can’t be honest about. . I like that this book showed the reality of chronic pain, and showed how to help/be there for people who have it, and provided for people who don’t understand it and it’s effects. As someone who has mild chronic pain I really related and agreed to so many of Chloe’s feelings. . I loved how real this book felt. The cute banter, the insecurities, the trauma, the worries about being too open, etc. felt realistic and made their relationship even better. I also really loved the idea of filling the gaps your partner has, like Red cooking when she wasn’t able to, instead of completing someone else. It’s about loving them for their strengths and weaknesses. ❤️ I enjoyed reading about a diverse character, but also a character who was fat/plus and didn’t focus on that, and a boyfriend who adored every part of her. I also like that they weren’t “fixed” by the end of the book. They have flaws and I love them both as characters because of their flaws. 😊 If you need a book to warm you up or a new favorite romance read, pick up it ASAP
Highlights

"Arguing. I don't argue with people." "That sounds dull," she murmured. "You-just-hurry up before I lose my shit, would you?" "You've not already lost it?" "Swear to God, Chloe, you've got three seconds. He waved the proffered hand around for emphasis.
Chloe is me for real 😂

‘You always say such lovely things to me Red. Do you say them to yourself?’ ‘No’
So fricking SAD

He followed her into the living room, noticing happily that the flat was just tidy enough to suggest that she was feeling okay’
He literally knows her so fucking well :(((

Starting my day with Chloe feels like starting my day in front of a canvas

Taking the time to arrange his thoughts and feelings, sinking into positive moments[…] so Red, laid back, close his eyes, and thought about Chloe’s smile.
He cheers himself up by thinking about her smiling!!!!!

I can cook, right now you can’t. So I’m doing it for you because that’s how people should behave; they should fill in each other’s gaps.

There was that smile of hers. Like the rising sun.
If someone ever compared my smile to a sunrise I would marry them (it has happened and we are gettting married L x)

He wanted to touch her, just to see if things felt different now. Now that he knew she saw something the same way he did.
He has such a beautiful mind that likes Chloe for her intellect and adores her ideas

Her lips didn’t smile, but her eyes sparkled would like diamonds.’
How CUTE N ROMANTIC

His dreams couldn’t truly recreate her. Something about her was to striking to remember, accurately, as if his brain didn’t have the right tools.
So poetic. Ship

Bravery wasn't an identity so much as a choice.

"You don't always have to be okay."
...
"I know. But I am okay, with you."

"Whether something bad is coming from your body our your brain, it makes no difference. Still feels like shit, right? Still hurts. Still needs fixing. They shouldn't have dismissed you, even if it was in your head. When it comes down to it, everything we feel is in our heads."

"After all, when it comes to love, it’s not a person’s flaws we’re looking at, now is it?”

“Bad choices and fucked-up decisions. That’s me.”

“There’s a big difference between being a coward and putting your emotional safety first."

“As long as you cried, you’ll be okay

"Whether something bad is coming from your body or your brain, it makes no difference. Still feels like shit, right? Still hurts. Still needs fixing. They shouldn’t have dismissed you, even if it was in your head. When it comes down to it, everything we feel is in our heads.”
