The story is far too chopped up for my taste. I finally gave up about halfway through. I listened to an interview with the author, and thought, "Wow this sounds very interesting".....mais non!

Halfway through the book, the surgeon is still in the process of dying from a heart attack, and meanwhile the story jumps to his children, wife, etc. I just could not keep my attention on it.

A terrible story - my stomach is in knots - and I'm annoyed by her style (especially in the first third of the book). 

But. It's a book with formidable power, somehow.

Slow start, great ending and beautiful use of flash backs to knot the story. A bit confusing at first, I'll admit but it picks up as you go along.
