When my friend finished Changes last year, and then stormed into my room at 10pm after finishing it and practically threw it at me, angrily, and wouldn't tell me why, I thought Butcher might have dropped the ball. He didn't. The end of Changes was, well, difficult to digest. But, unlike my friend, I decided to trust Butcher. Ghost Story, which followed Changes, did not disappoint me. There's always that wonder that everyone has, how things will be after they're gone, and if nothing else Dresden gets to see that. Seeing the other characters we've come to love all hurting was difficult - Murphy, Butters, Molly, Thomas - but it was great to get some more time with other characters that we'd not had such a deep relationship with from previous books: Mort the ectomancer, Justin DuMorne, etc. While toward the middle the book kind of slowed down, and I was slogging through some parts solely on loyalty, the last thirty pages of the book really picked up and made those slow parts worth it.

** spoiler alert ** I like where Butcher is going with this one. Knight of winter! Cool with me.

I was a little disappointed in the start of the book, however, that disappointed quickly went away. Actually, I should have reread the last book before I started on Ghost Story so I could remember more of the details. My problem is, Jim Butcher writes such great stories I have a tendancy to rush through them and not savor them properly. Therefore, I really need to read the books twice. Once I got into the flow of the book, I couldn't wait to see how the situation would be resolved. I am now, unfortunately, forced to wait for the next book to come out. How unfair is that! So I guess I will be going back and rereading the last two books while I wait for the next installment.
