To be honest, I would've never thought to pick this book up, if it was on a shelf. I got it in of those book mystery bags at one of my local bookstores. I don't really read short stories, but the first line in the book really intrigued me. I feel like it was kind of rushed, but overall a good book. There was one point where I didn't quite understand the plot, but again, that might have just been me not reading the text properly (That is probably the case) Would I recommend this to someone? Probably not, unless I knew they were interested in this genre, but it was still good book. (Also excuse my grammar. English isn't my first language and punctuation is quite hard for me)

You know when you're reading a book and you approach the end and you feel like the conflict is finally over... but you still have 10 pages left so something else *has* to happen because it just feels... incomplete? Yeah, same. On a different note, what type of children did Gillian Flynn meet that every single one that she writes about is a disturbed freak? Who hurt you, ma'am?

https://youtu.be/ABoiCL6b64Y Video review The first sentence in this book had me surprised. I had to re-read the synopsis to make sure I had the right book. I wish you could have seen my face. But it all started coming together and the weird and creepy started mixing in. Very much a pschological thriller/horror feel in condensed form. I honestly haven't read many books with open ended, ambiguous endings, but if they are done like this one... WOW I would love to read more. I am still thinking about it a week later. I feel like a re-read would be awesome with this one just to see what I think is really going on.

If you remove the bloody floorboards and and water-stained tiles; if you destroy the beams that held Robert Carterhook's body, and you tear down the walls that absorbed the screams, do you to to be take down the house? Can it be haunted if the actual guts- -its internal organs-have been removed? Or does the nastiness linger in the air?
