The plot of this book is amazing….The descriptions regarding people? Not my cup of tea😅 Truly a great plot combining multiple different paranormal/supernatural things in a fun way!

A werewolf and a vampire walk into a diner that's not exactly what it seems. Unless you want to release the Old Ones from their bells into our world, that is. In this case, the werewolf & vampire are the GOOD guys. This was a light, pleasant read. I zoomed through it in just over 24 hours. Nothing really scary except maybe for some of the scenes toward the end being a little gruesome. Otherwise, just fun.

You know, this is pretty solidly a 3 star read for me. There are things I really liked about the book and there are things that made me cringe every time the issues came up. So I'm in the middle on this one. Was it a fun read though? Yeah, for sure. Let's start with the cons: I didn't like how the characters described each other because there was a constant derogatory edge to it. Loretta is not once described without mentioning - in detail - how fat she is and how her flesh moves. Duke is occasionally described as fat and balding. Earl is skinny and ugly. It's constant. With the exception of Tammy, who is rarely described in any way other than how one might try to describe a centerfold - which is derogatory in it's own way, especially considering the character is 17 and therefore a minor. Yeah. And on that note, the constant need for Tammy to be an object of sexual attraction to two adult men? Gross. Just really gross. Gripes aside, here are the pros: The way the author describes things is fantastic. It's like the world he's built is some kind of multi-faceted cryptid, descriptions ranging from Douglas Adams' Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy to the well know strange podcast Welcome to Nightvale. My favorite section is the gold course. The description, covering naught but two pages of the book and residing only in one chapter, is a masterpiece. The author knows his world building. And, through that world, he does quite well with the plot, although it may occasionally have to work around a 17 year old being sexually attractive to adult men. All in all, a fun read. Not my favorite book by the author, but it was worth reading at least once.

A vampire and a werewolf walk into a diner... I found this book mixed in with a pile of books I never got around to but meant to read. I'm glad I picked it up because it was an easy and enjoyable read. This book has so many supernatural creatures I'm sure I've forgotten a few but, there's a vampire, a werewolf, a ghost, a witch, and zombies. When I was finished, I checked to see what Duke & Earl got up to in their other adventures. I was disappointed to see this is a stand-alone book.

This was an accidental library find. (I like to wander the shelves and pick random things that catch my eye.) I thought it was pretty hilarious. Definitely worth picking up at your local library.
